Bedtime Stories

Sometimes the most hilarious things come out of M's mouth. The funniest part is that he usually has no idea that what he's said is funny. Take tonight at bedtime for example:

Nate was reading "Green Eggs and Ham." I thought he was doing a great job, but M apparently didn't agree.

Nate: I do not like them, Sam I Am.
M: (interrupting) You're not doing it right.
Nate: What do you mean?
M: You're not using enough expression.

Apparently there is a right way and a wrong way to do Dr. Suess.

Five minutes later, we were into our nightly portion of the Children's Bible...

Nate: Who is in heaven?
M: God.
Nate: And who is with God?
M: Ummm...I don't know.
Nate: Well, who is God's son?
M: George Washington?

Apparently we have a few things to teach him :)

Loads of Fun

We discovered this week that M loves to do laundry. He thinks it's fascinating. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it's really very tedious.

He was astonished that I would let him take all his clothes and throw them into a big machine full of soapy water. We've discovered that as is true of most six year old boys, he loves things that are messy. And to him, this qualifies. He spent ten minutes throwing each shirt, each pair of pants and each individual sock in, and giggling as they were consumed by the foamy water.

After he slammed the lid shut, he played video games and waited patiently for the wash cycle to be complete. He could hardly wait for the next step. If the washer was this much fun, what great things would the dryer have in store??
Before I knew it, he had the lid up and had dived in. All I could see was feet! He was, literally, head first in the washing machine, reaching as far as he could to get the clothes that were at the very bottom.

I guess when you're only 45 inches tall, laundry can be kind of treacherous.

From now on, Nate will have to help.
